BEMEX PATTERN GEN.

Next : Hewlett Packard 8551A

Front Voew [28K]

  • Late 60's ?
  • Dual standard crosshatch and dot pattern generator.
  • Estimate ~30 tr*ns*st*rs, mainly BC108s.
  • Original cost unknown.
NOTES A T.V. pattern generator generating dot, crosshatch and blank frame signals for both 405 and 625 line standards.

The front panel has engraved painted lettering which implies this is a commercial product. However the majority of components are mounted on a kind of vero board (wider pitch than the modern 0.1" stuff) instead of a pucka P.C.B. ; this implies this was either sold as a kit or was perhaps the product of a small manufacturer.
SERVICE DATA Nope :-(
CURRENT STATE
A few scuffs and basically sound, although the tuning control probably isn't original. The modulators work and I get some kind of pattern on a T.V. screen, in fact the dot pattern can be very briefly seen as the generator tunes through the T.V. channel so it's almost there. Could be a timing problem (dodgy cap's) or maybe a twiddle of some of those pots ?
WHERE FOUND Auction at the June 2003 B.V.W.S. meeting at Wotton Bassett for £??
View of internal PCB's [41K]
Components mounted on three seperate PCB's mounted onto the front panel. Not shown is the mains transformer and main smoothing caps which are attached to the rear panel.
