Radio Rentals 208 |
|
NOTES | Intended for use as a rental set, the construction is a little tougher
than normal; for example, the grill (of which several versions are known)
is actually a honeycomb structure. In all respects, the internals appear about as standard as you can get, with a typical valve line-up, simple circuitry and, unfortunately, Hunts capacitors :-( |
---|---|
SERVICE DATA | Nope :-( |
CURRENT STATE | Very dusty inside - i.e., untouched. The heat from the dropper resistor tends to cause a crack in the top of the case on these models but this one is OK. |
WHERE FOUND | May 2004 NVCF for £20. |
Note the slight blackening of the case above the dropper resistor, UY41 and
UL41
(on the right in above picture). The heat buildup here often leads to the case
cracking.
Unlike many sets of the era, the loudspeaker is connected via a connector
which helps servicability. However I'm amazed that the speaker wires
survived given that they are caught between the UY41 rectifier
and a stinking hot UL41 !
Fairly simple looking design, spoilt only by the Hunts capacitors.
