TELEVISION PUZZLE

NOTES

This dexterity puzzle was manufactured by R.Journet who opened a toy shop in London in 1878 and began manufacturing puzzles some time in the 1890's. His company went on to produce several hundred compact glass-topped puzzles in the period up to the mid-60's when they were sold to Abbey Corinthian Games.

From the style of the background picture I would guess it dates from the early 1950's - but it is just a guess.

Of course I spent many enjoyable hours getting the pieces in their right place and I object most strongly to any accusation that I simply turned the puzzle upside-down, scanned it and set to work on assembling the whole thing with trusty old Paintshop Pro.

It seems at least six versions of the television puzzle were produced, featuring differnt television screen images including a cricket match (illustrated opposite) and the boat race. As well as the television puzzle, R Journet also produced several designs incorporating radios..
WHERE FOUND Bought off Fleabuy for 99p. A bargain as these often go for over a quid :-)
