MULLARD OUTLOOK

From September 1950, the valve manufacturer Mullard began distributing a monthly eight-page booklet to its distributers and the general radio and television retailers.

The 4-page orange section was the "Commercial" section, spotlighting dealers and representatives, news from the shows as well as publicising available advertising literature ... oh, and mentioning their high speed valve tester at every possible opertunity!

The four-page green "For the Service Department" section was a much more interesting - ant technical - section. The latest valves were described, example circuits given, whilst topics such as valve and C.R.T. manufacturing presented as mini-series spread over many months. Oh, and mentions the flaming high speed valve tester too !

In a great piece of sales/techie equality, each month the outer pages alternated between the commercial (orange) and techie (green) sections. Either way, the front cover always contained a great photograph of something releated to Mullard's business, frequently shots of various manufacturing processes though the first three editions feature dolly-bird "chicks" (no doubt to chosen to appeal to the then male dominated sales and techie departments).

Each of the early volumes seems to sparodically miss some months. Was that due to the industrial climate - strikes? - or was it just that nothing in particular had happened that month that involved their high speed valve tester ?
