ULTRA - MODEL NUMBERING

Between 1948 and about 1952 Ultra adopted the following numbering scheme :-

<1st letter>   <Two digits>   <3rd digit>   <4th digit>
D Console + doors   47 9" CRT   0 Ch.1 London   4 Fringe (pre-1950?)
V Table   57 12" CRT   1 Ch. 4 Birmingham   6 Fringe (post-1950?)
W Console   70 ?   2 Ch. 2 Holme Moss      
Y Console + radio   71 9"?   3 Ch.3 Scotland      
  'YA' and 'YE'
differentiate
between CRT
types.		   72 12" CRT   4 Ch.5 Wenevoe      
    73 15" CRT            
                   

From 1952 onwards model numbers were changed as follows; since by know the sets were easilly tuneable to any of the then five channels the second letter is a bit pointless !
